Youth

SPARX is a computer program designed to support young people dealing with mild to moderate depression, anxiety, or stress. It draws on the principles of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), a form of "talking therapy." Upon starting SPARX, you will be introduced to the Guide, who will provide an overview of what SPARX is and how it can be beneficial to you. You'll have the opportunity to personalize your own avatar and embark on a captivating journey through seven distinct provinces. Your objective will be to undertake quests aimed at restoring balance to the world and overcoming negative thoughts known as Gnats. Throughout your journey, you'll encounter diverse characters, engage in puzzle-solving, and complete mini-games. As you successfully conquer each quest, the Guide will offer guidance on how you can apply the newly acquired skills to improve your well-being, resolve problems, and find joy in real-world experiences. Each level of SPARX typically takes approximately thirty minutes to complete. www.sparx.org.nz

Counselling Self Activity Materials

Counselling self-activity materials are resources designed to facilitate personal reflection, growth, and therapeutic exploration outside of formal counselling sessions. These materials can be utilized by individuals who are seeking to engage in self-help or self-guided therapeutic activities. They provide an opportunity for introspection,
self-awareness, and skill-building.

Worksheets and Journals

These often consist of guided prompts and exercises that encourage individuals to reflect on their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. They may focus on various areas such as self-esteem, relationships, goal-setting, and stress management.

Self-Help Books

Written resources authored by professionals in the field of psychology or counselling. They cover a wide range of topics, such as coping with specific mental health issues, improving relationships, and personal development.

Online Resources and Apps

With the increasing availability of technology, various websites, apps, and online platforms offer self-guided counselling activities, guided meditations, interactive exercises, and educational materials. These counselling self-activity materials provide individuals with tools and techniques to engage in personal growth, self-reflection, and emotional well-being. While they can be valuable resources, it is important to note that they are not intended to replace professional counselling or therapy. For individuals dealing with severe or persistent mental health concerns, seeking the guidance of a qualified mental health professional is crucial.
